President of current session of UNGA delivers lecture to JDP

President of the current session of the United Nations General Assembly and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E. Abdullah Shahid, who is on an official visit to the Kingdom, delivered a lecture today titled “Five Rays of Hope” to the 4th version of the Foundational Diplomats Program.

During the lecture, His Excellency the President praised Bahraini diplomacy, which is reflected in its wide-ranging multilateral initiatives that aim to promote global peace and dialogue and contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.

He also talked about the five rays of hope that reflect the vision of his presidential message for this session, which are: recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic, rebuilding sustainability, meeting the requirements of the planet, respecting the rights of all, and revitalizing the United Nations.

At the end of the lecture, the current UNGA President encouraged the participants in the session on the importance of engaging with society in its various sectors, and the need for international cooperation and solidarity, which are considered among the most prominent means of addressing various international issues.

The lecture was attended by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Director General of Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Shaikha Muneera Khalifa Alkhalifa, and the Acting Chief of Organizations, H.E. Ambassador Shaikha Aysha Ahmed Saqer Alkhalifa as well as other MoFA employees. Acting Resident Coordinator of United Nations activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mohammed Al-Zarqani also attended the lecture as well as the President’s accompanying delegation.

The Director General of Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies also met with the President of the current session of the United Nations General Assembly and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives to address ways of cooperation in the field of diplomatic training.
