Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa’s Academy for diplomatic studies sheds light on Bahrain diplomatic history

The Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies participated in the cultural program of the New York University, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates to spotlight the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts in documenting its diplomatic heritage.

The event featured a series of symposiums entitled “Arab Crossroads” and discussed a number of topics and causes of interest to regional and international opinion

The Executive Director of the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, delivered a lecture in which she shed light on the Kingdom of Bahrain’s diplomatic history that goes back to more than 50 years.

She spoke of the different stages of the Bahrain diplomacy and the important stances of its distinguished figures who shaped Bahrain’s modern history.

Dr. Muneera also referred to the importance of the diplomatic legacy and the need to document it, saying that the Kingdom of Bahrain has allocated an annual day (14th of January) of every year to celebrate the country’s diplomatic achievements out of the great attention it accords to this diplomacy.

She noted that the Bahrain Diplomatic Day is a great opportunity to assess the current diplomatic scene and the different stages the Kingdom of Bahrain has gone through since 1969.

The elite of experts and academics who attended the lecture learned about the stages and mechanisms of the Bahrain diplomatic history’s documentation from the early stage of thorough study to the outsourcing of data and information from reliable sources, to archiving such material in accordance to specific standards and displaying it to the audience in the form of documents, pictures and collections whenever suitable.

Dr. Muneera also reviewed in this context, the fruitful cooperation with Bahrain National Museum, which hosted the Documentary Exhibition “50 years of Diplomacy” in January 2019.

It is worth noting that the Academy’s participation in the event is an indication of the importance it attaches to cultural programs and the role it assumes in increasing collective awareness vis-à-vis vital topics and causes of interest to the various community segments as well it aims at reinforcing bilateral relations with regional and international educational institutions.
