Shura Council receives ‘Dhiyafa’ programme delegation

Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan Ali, Chairman of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee at the Shura Council, has highlighted the democratic strides made by Bahrain since 2002, through its bicameral National Assembly, within His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s comprehensive development process, and thanks to the ongoing cooperation among the constitutional authorities to achieve the interests of the nation and the citizens.

This came as the Shura Council’s Secretariat-General received today a delegation from the fourth edition of the International Diplomats Programme (Dhiyafa), in cooperation with the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies.

Dr. Mohammed Ali Hassan conveyed greetings from Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, to the visiting delegation, stressing the Shura Council’s interest in consolidating the role of parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing parliamentary relations, and extending bridges of friendship and cooperation with national parliaments.

He indicated that parliamentary diplomacy contributes to pushing the development process further, locally and globally, adding that it plays a major role in adopting common stances and building solid relations with other countries.

Members of the delegation were informed about the Shura Council’s work mechanisms, including its constructive cooperation with the Council of Representatives and the executive branch.

It is worth noting that the International Diplomats Programme aims to strengthen relations between Bahrain and other countries. It also aims to inform the participants about the kingdom’s history, cultural heritage, foreign policy and wide-ranging achievements.

The “Dheyafa” programme serves as a platform to exchange ideas and build permanent relations among diplomats.
