Manama, Mar.7 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani hailed the advanced achievements of Bahraini women, thanks to the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the efforts exerted by the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr. Al Zayani the Kingdom’s keen interest and care in women’s affairs to include them in the development process, extending congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), on International Women’s Day.
He noted the role of SCW in supporting Bahraini women and enhancing the role of women in the economic, social, cultural, and other fields, stemming from the directives of His Majesty the King and main principles of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He expressed his pride in the efforts supporting women in the Kingdom thanks to the constant support of the SCW through developing national policies and qualitative plans to promote women’s rights, most notably the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women.
Hepraised the success of Bahraini women and their active participation in many development areas and the high position they have reached in leadership positions in ministries, official bodies, and the private sector, in confirmation of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s continuous efforts to integrate women’s needs in development, and achieving the principle of equal opportunities, in line with the Kingdom’s international obligations, such as the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.
He noted the success of Bahraini women in the field of diplomacy and the constructive role played by Bahraini diplomats in implementing Bahrain’s foreign policy and enhancing its position internationally.
In this regard, he affirmed the keen interest of the Ministry to implement the principle of equal opportunities in employment and promotions, and to support the role of women at all levels in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in diplomatic missions abroad.
Dr. Al Zayani said that Bahraini women’s process reflects the royal vision, which is based on achieving justice and equality in rights and duties among all citizens and providing support and care to Bahraini women to allow them to contribute to the Kingdom’s progress and prosperity.
