The “Parliamentary Diplomacy Diploma” programme, jointly prepared by the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies (MBMA) and the Representatives Council, kicked of today, and will run until February 15. Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Bahraini Ambassador to the United Kingdom, presented a work paper on the strategic Bahrain-UK relations. He highlighted historical frameworks, agreements and treaties signed between the two kingdoms. He also highlighted the role of the British Parliament and its work mechanisms, in addition to its way of dealing with strategic relations and important international issues in the UK. Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to the United States, discussed the historical frameworks, strategic relations, agreements, treaties signed between Bahrain and the US.
He also highlighted the role of the US Congress and its work mechanisms, in addition to the way it handles special political situations, and addresses strategic relations and important global issues, such as the Palestinian cause, Iran and Iraq. The Parliamentary Diplomacy Programme, targeting Representatives Council members, covers various topics related to Bahrain, including foreign policy, consular services, citizens’ interests abroad, and attracting foreign investments. It also focuses on the digital economy, financial and monetary policy, and sustainable development goals through bilateral and multilateral diplomacy. The programme aims to promote cooperation and understanding among countries.
The programme also provides a comprehensive overview of Bahrain’s strategic relations with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), UK, US, European, and Asian countries, as well as insights into diplomatic work in various specialisations, legal and cultural fields, parliamentarianism, national economic diplomacy, and digital diplomacy. It also covers the kingdom’s strategic partners and their scope.
