SCW Secretary-General participates in 2026 Diplomatic Forum

A session on the role of diplomatic missions in promoting the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment was held as part of the Diplomatic Forum organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Diplomatic Day. The session was attended by heads of Bahraini diplomatic and consular missions abroad and officials from the Ministry.
Addressing the meeting, Lulwa Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women, commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bahrain’s Mission in New York for their support in launching the third edition of the award on the sidelines of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

She noted that joint promotional efforts with UN Women contributed to a rise in participation, with 437 submissions received by the end of December.

Al Awadhi emphasised that the award reflects Bahrain’s commitment to advancing women’s empowerment globally and has attracted growing regional and international attention, citing high-level participation in related international events.

She also called on Bahraini diplomats to continue highlighting the achievements of Bahraini women and to promote the award and its objectives at international forums.
