A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today between the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Center for Parliamentary Studies and Training at the Representatives Council.
The signing ceremony was held at the Representatives Council where Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, and Secretary General of the Representatives Council, Advisor Rashid Mohammed Bounejema, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The conclusion of the MoU was in the context of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ keenness to enhance fruitful cooperation with all state institutions under the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the benefit of those institutions and their employees and in order to reach the desired objectives in the fields of development and rehabilitation.
In this context, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the keenness of the Ministry on strengthening cooperation in the fields of training and exchange of information with the Representatives Council. She noted the importance of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides for it provides the necessary expertise in the field of legal and diplomatic work and stressed the need for continued interaction between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Representatives in various fields. This is for better integration and cooperation between the executive and legislative branches, in reflection of continuous progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain, she noted.
For his part, Bounejema said that this MoU comes in line with the aspirations and directives of the Council’s Speaker, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, towards more consolidation and deepening of partnership between the parliament and various specialised bodies in the field of training and rehabilitation, notably institutes that develop capacities in the legal, legislative and diplomatic fields. This, he said, would activate and materialise the ambitious visions of the reform approach of His Majesty the King, which open wide horizons for democratic work in which cooperation represents sustainability and integration at the levels of performance and outputs.
The MoU aims at highlighting the importance of strengthening and exchanging academic cooperation between the two sides and benefiting from the exchange of information and viewpoints through training, research and studies in the diplomatic and parliamentary fields. It also targets the organisation of joint courses and support of interaction and exchange of trainees, experts and researchers in this field.
The importance of this MoU comes within the framework of the competent and vital role of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the role of which is to train and qualify diplomats, as well as to provide them with the highest capabilities and skills, according to a rigorous scientific and professional approach.
