MoFA participates in Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference

Executive Director of the Institute of Diplomacy, Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, participated in a “Diplomacy and Training” session, held as part of the Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference under the patronage of UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Abu Dhabi, Nov. 15 (BNA):  Executive Director of the Institute of Diplomacy, Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, participated in a “Diplomacy and Training” session, held as part of the Abu Dhabi Diplomacy Conference under the patronage of UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Executive Director of the Institute of Diplomacy expressed appreciation to the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for patronizing the forum, which aims at strengthening dialogue and joint coordination between diplomats around the world in order to overcome all challenges in the diplomatic training field.

She valued the support and guidance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa to the training projects of the institute which resulted in developing the Kingdom’s diplomats and serving Bahrain’s foreign policy.

Dr. Shaikha Muneera affirmed that diplomacy nowadays requires experiences in a number of academic and professional fields that will help shape a diplomat in the best way. She also shed light on the importance of the academic aspect considering it one of the modern pillars of the concept of contemporary diplomats that helps them have a better understanding of the world. Communication requires diplomats to be familiar with many competencies that qualify them to represent their homeland on various international platforms in the future, she added.

The Executive Director of the Institute of Diplomacy elaborated that the current challenge facing this century’s diplomats is recognizing the nature of communication and identifying the other, which comes through the knowledge of the cultures of all the peoples of the world and their cultural, religious, social and economic characteristics of their identities and the fact that difference is a necessary condition in our world. This perception of the world and its peoples will give the diplomat unique capabilities in communicating with the authorities concerned, she added.

She also expressed her thanks to the organizers of this forum, which promotes cooperation among diplomats around the world, and lauded the efforts of the Emirates Diplomatic Academy in providing diplomatic training and research supporting initiatives that aim at enhancing women’s competence in the diplomatic field.

The conference, organized by the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, brings together senior figures in the fields of diplomacy, economy from academics and specialists. It is keen to exchange experiences and ideas and to foster a culture of communication and dialogue.
