The Equal Opportunities Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an event to mark Bahraini Women’s Day 2025, celebrated this year under the theme “Bahraini Women: Distinction, Creativity, Innovation”.

Ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Equal Opportunities Committee, highlighted that the day was established through the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), in recognition of the leading contributions of Bahraini women to national development.

He commended the key role played by female employees of the ministry in strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain’s presence on the regional and international diplomatic stage, noting that Bahraini women now constitute 38% of the diplomatic corps. He added that this reflects the ministry’s success in supporting female talent and enabling them to assume leadership positions and represent Bahrain in international forums.

Dr. Bucheeri thanked Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for his continued support and confidence in the Equal Opportunities Committee. He emphasised that this support has been instrumental in enhancing the ministry’s working environment, expanding opportunities for Bahraini women, and affirming their role as active partners in peace-building and in advancing sustainable diplomatic, developmental, and civilisational achievements.
He highlighted the Committee’s commitment to further developing an institutional environment that guarantees equal opportunities for all ministry personnel. He also said that the continued effort to empower Bahraini women in diplomacy and to broaden the professional pathways through which they contribute to achieving the foreign policy objectives of the Kingdom.
