Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, met at the Ministry today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, who is on a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Foreign Minister welcomed Minister Tuggar, stressing the Kingdom’s keenness to promote friendly relations with Nigeria at all levels, given its importance on the African and international arenas, based on the common desire in expanding bilateral cooperation between the two countries to serve mutual interests.
For his part, the Nigerian Foreign Minister expressed his pleasure at visiting Bahrain, affirming his country’s interest in strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation with the Kingdom in various areas, in light of the solid ties between the two countries and their common keenness to establish constructive relations based on mutual respect and cooperation, which would meet the aspirations of the two countries and its people.
The two Ministers also discussed ways to develop the current friendly relations and bilateral cooperation between Bahrain and Nigeria in all fields to meet common interests and aspirations, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common concern.
Present at the meeting was the Director General of the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, and the Chief of Arab and African Affairs Sector, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Tarifi, and the Chief of Al-Madar Centre, Ali Khalid Al Araifi.
