Diplomatic Academy sheds light on the Kingdom’s diplomatic history

As part of its efforts to highlight the Kingdom of Bahrain’s work in documenting its diplomatic heritage, the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies participated in the cultural program of New York University, held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The program featured a series of seminars under the title “Arab Crossroads,” addressing various topics and issues of regional and international significance.

Dr. Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Executive Director of the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, delivered a lecture on Bahrain’s diplomatic history, which spans over fifty years. During this period, the Kingdom experienced multiple milestones and witnessed significant moments involving distinguished figures who contributed to shaping Bahrain’s modern history.

Dr. Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa also emphasized the importance of diplomatic heritage and the necessity of its documentation, noting that Bahrain places great importance on preserving this legacy. This commitment is reflected in the designation of January 14 as a day to celebrate Bahraini diplomatic achievements, providing an opportunity to reassess the current diplomatic landscape and reflect on its various phases from 1969 to the present.

Academics and experts in the humanities attending the event were introduced to the mechanisms and stages of documenting Bahrain’s diplomatic history. This process involves extensive research, meticulous data collection from reliable sources, and specialized archival procedures. It culminates in presenting these archives—comprising documents, photographs, and artifacts—to the public in appropriate contexts. In this regard, the Executive Director of the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies highlighted the fruitful collaboration with the Bahrain National Museum, which hosted the documentary exhibition “Fifty Years of Diplomacy” in January 2019.

The participation of the Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies underscores the significance of cultural programs and their role in raising collective awareness of crucial topics and issues affecting different segments of society. At the same time, it strengthens bilateral relations between the academy and educational institutions at both regional and international levels.
