Academy hosts Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UK

The Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies today hosted a video conference with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohamed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, entitled “Dialogue with Ambassador”.

The session is  part of the Junior Diplomat Program (JDP) in its third edition. The conference was attended by the Executive Director of Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, and JDP participants.

Dr. Shaikha Muneera welcomed Ambassador Shaikh Fawaz, expressing her appreciation as he is offering his knowledge and experience in the diplomatic field to JDP participants.

The ambassador said he was delighted to meet JDP participants, noting the importance of such programs organized by Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies in training national cadres capable of excelling in the diplomatic field and to well represent the Kingdom of Bahrain in various regional and international forums.

He mentioned the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Diplomatic and Consular Missions, stressing the great attention paid by the Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, to dedicate the diplomatic field to serving the country and its people, especially in light of this international crisis that is coronavirus outbreak.

He highlighted his experience in the government field and how transferring from one field to another has enriched his knowledge and career, highlighting the diplomatic field and its various opportunities and challenges.

He answered the questions that were asked by the participants about the Bahraini diplomatic role of the Kingdom’s Embassy in London, how it deals with various British parliamentary and political parties, the role of diplomatic missions in managing crises and the diplomatic efforts in areas of economy and digital diplomacy. He also offered to future diplomats several recommendations based on his long experience in the government field.

The academy continues offering its JDP Program through the most appropriate online platforms in line with the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and practicing social distancing.

The JDP Program aims to train young national cadres that are capable to entre the diplomatic field with high professionalism through providing its participants with knowledge and basic diplomatic skills.

The participants who pass the program can apply the acquired knowledge and skills in their career as diplomats to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The program was designed on scientific basis that simulate the nature of the dynamic diplomatic field.

The program also offers topics related to the diplomatic field such as history, politics, international relations, representation in international forums and organizations.

It also offers various intensive Language courses as it is one of the most important tools of communication in the diplomatic field, in addition to cultural activities, which contribute to creating a more comprehensive understanding of diplomacy and other related soft powers.
