On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, made the following statement:

On this national occasion dear to us all, it honors me to patron this celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Bahraini Diplomacy. I am proud to have been running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for more than three decades, since the late Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, may he rest in peace, has appointed me the Director of the Directorate of Foreign Affairs In 1969.

This celebration, one that documents the history and journey of the Bahraini diplomacy for half a century, symbolizes achieving our national sovereignty and mirrors the Ministry’s contributions to establish diplomatic relations with brotherly and friendly countries, as well as addressing the interests of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its citizens in various fields.

Bahrain’s policy and relations, which have always been characterized by moderation, good-neighborliness, and its peaceful approach to resolve disputes, have earned the Kingdom appreciation and respect, making it a state present at the regional and international level.

On this occasion, I would like to commend the efforts exerted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, to establish this important documentary exhibition. I would also like to thank and appreciate all those who put this exhibition together.

In his speech at the inauguration of the exhibition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his profound pride and pleasure in the great honor accorded to the Bahraini diplomacy, as His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has allocated the 14thof January of every year as the Diplomatic Day.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the founder and Dean of the Bahraini Diplomacy, for his patronage of the exhibition and to the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, for her cooperation and efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the success of the exhibition, noting the efforts of all sponsors of the exhibition.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also pointed out that this exhibition will contribute to introducing the history of Bahraini diplomacy and its various stages and how it dealt with the requirements of each stage through documents and pictures that embody the journey of Bahraini diplomacy since the establishment of the Directorate of Foreign Affairs in 1969, and its transformation to a  sovereign Ministry; the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1971, to represent the Kingdom of Bahrain abroad and contribute to consolidate its position and defend its interests, security and stability.

The exhibition included many collections and pictures that reflect the history of Bahrain’s diplomacy and its development, as well as the archive of bilateral meetings between the Kingdom of Bahrain and its allies across the world, and its most important participations at the regional and international levels.
