Some of these courses are components of wider training programs such as the Junior Diplomatic Program (JDP) and the Pre-Appointment Program (PAP).
The Language Centre also offers stand-alone language courses open to any Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff who are interested in acquiring a new language. The Language Centre focuses on the teaching of the official languages of the United Nations given special their importance in the conduct of global affairs. However, other language courses are on offer including Italian, German, Portuguese and Turkish, while instruction in other languages is planned for the near future including in Hindi and Hebrew.
Beyond traditional language training, the Language Centre also aims to strengthen specialised skills such as report and speech writing, with a special focus on the nuances of diplomatic language. Furthermore, the Academy offers course in expert political and legal translation, in addition to courses on interpretation and transcription.
In its effort to provide the best possible language instruction, the Language Centre actively seeks out language training partnerships and collaboration with academic institutions, language centres and embassies based in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
