In presence of Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa, MBMA concludes first edition of IDP 2019

The first edition of the International Diplomats Program 2019 was concluded yesterday in a closing ceremony that saw the presence of a number of ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries accredited to Kingdom of Bahrain, and a number of officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The International Diplomats Program is a program through which the Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies hosted a number of international diplomats from across the globe for two weeks.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa delivered a speech at the beginning of the ceremony in which she praised the IDP and its various activities that managed to strengthen the Kingdom’s relations with friendly and brotherly countries. She also added that the Program’s mechanisms will enhance bilateral relations in line with the Kingdom’s foreign policy principals such as mutual respect and the approach of peace in shouldering its international responsibility in the region.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also praised the cultural role played by the program, which reinforced the Kingdom’s interest in the importance of cultural exchange among its counterparts, further reflecting the Kingdom’s keenness in enhancing mutual understanding and international cooperation in preserving cultural values that are an integral part of the growth and prosperity of humanity today.

The Chief Executive Officer of the MBMA for Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Shaikha Muneera bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, also delivered a speech in which she reviewed the stages diplomats went through during the program from their first day to their last. She also expressed the Academy’s great responsibility in hosting the international diplomats, commending the efforts exerted by the team that planned out the program in a way that shows its participants the Kingdom’s many aspects.

She also noted the importance of paying attention to the cultural and social resources of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the extent to which these resources are beneficial, as the Kingdom has always been known for the principals of peaceful coexistence. She also added that the Kingdom still invests in this social cohesion, something that the international diplomats saw during their field trips and it is what makes the Bahraini experience one of its kind and not only at the regional level.

Mr. Hector Alcantara Palacios from the United Mexican States delivered a speech in which he affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain has exceeded all of his expectations, especially after having seen the Kingdom’s political experience during the IDP’s field trips, namely the Council of Representatives, noting the role of the legislative authority in the Kingdom, as well as other ministries and institutions in the Kingdom. He also hailed the Kingdom’s visions and its achievements of the SDGs, which reflect the Kingdom’s commitment to the UN and its agencies.

Amongst the speakers was Ms. Monica Remsy Calangian from the friendly Republic of the Philippines who expressed in her speech her appreciation and gratitude for the hospitality they received, and pointed out the Kingdom’s beautiful cultural and social aspects that she saw during her two-weeks stay. She also reviewed the moments engraved in her memories during their visits to the Kingdom’s local landmarks, such as the Manama and Muharraq Souq, commending the generosity of the Bahraini people.

The end of the ceremony saw the honoring of all participants as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa presented the participants of the first edition of the IDP 2019 with a commemorative gifts, wishing them success.
